Delverium Demo
What the free Steam slice includes, how long it lasts, and what the February 2026 multiplayer update added.
The Delverium Demo has been on Steam since February 2025 (app 3426800, tied to the full game at 2710040). It is the honest way to sample Sagestone Games’ 2D survival sandbox before the paid Early Access build on September 22, 2026. This page is a scope document, not a spoiler dump: starting biomes, early dungeons, session length, co-op rules, and the February 2026 multiplayer update that changed how groups actually play.
Scott Lowther (Skoddle) originally shipped the demo as a solo and local-co-op taste. A year of polish later, the February 20, 2026 update — timed ahead of Steam Next Fest — turned that slice into an eight-player test. The demo is still a slice. Fishing, extra biomes, later bosses, fuller gear, and quests belong to the paid game. If you want the studio’s 1.0 list, read the roadmap. If you want day-one buying advice, stay on the Early Access page.
What you can play
Steam’s demo copy is consistent across news posts:
- Starting biomes and the first band of overworld.
- Early dungeons — enough mining, combat, and loot to learn the delve loop.
- About one to two hours of intended exploration. Some players naturally stretch that to two or three hours by farming, decorating, or lingering in co-op. Treat “one to two hours” as the designer’s slice, not a hard lock.
- Singleplayer, 4-player split-screen, and up to 8-player online co-op with Steam friends.
- After February 2026, simultaneous split-screen and online in the same session, with drop-in / drop-out.
The full game, by Sagestone’s own demo blurb, adds biomes, boss fights, gear, fishing, quests, and more. Do not expect the demo to contain the June 2026 fishing pole, cosmetic armour slots, or the extra biomes earmarked for Early Access.
February 2026 multiplayer demo update
Skoddle’s Steam post listed the headline changes. This wiki repeats that list rather than inventing a version number:
- Online co-op for up to 8 players
- Simultaneous split-screen + online co-op
- Control rebinding
- A large art update
- An ambient audio pass (Jeff van Dyck’s side of the project)
- Journey shrines for fast travel
- An additional early-game boss
- NPC room assignment
- Lore / quests UI (interface, not the full quest set)
- Extra character and world creation options
- “Many other additions, fixes and improvements”
If you last touched the demo in early 2025, you are not looking at the same build. Re-download before judging art, audio, or whether your couch plus a remote friend can share one seed.
How to spend the first hour
The getting started guide is the mechanical walkthrough. In demo terms, the loop is:
- Create a character and world. The February update added extra options here; skim them instead of mashing confirm if you care about difficulty modifiers (Casual, Normal, Hard, Horde, and permadeath all showed up in earlier playtest notes).
- Punch the starting biome for wood and stone, then throw up walls, a door, a bed, and a light so an NPC has somewhere to stand.
- Craft a basic melee or ranged weapon and a pickaxe before you commit to a dungeon hole.
- Look for a Journey shrine if you have already wandered far; they are the demo’s fast-travel answer, not a late-game unlock.
- When you are geared, take the extra early boss seriously. It is the demo’s combat exam.
- Stop when the slice clearly ends — new biomes and fishing are not hiding one screen further on.
Co-op groups should read co-op before hosting. The world lives on the host PC while that player has the game open. Closing the game parks the world. There is no official dedicated server; community Lodestone hosting is documented under dedicated servers and is not a Sagestone product.
Performance and platforms
The demo is a lightweight 2D title. Use the full-game system requirements as a ceiling: Windows 10 64-bit, an i3 / Ryzen 3, 4 GB of RAM, and an Intel HD 4000 / GT 420 / HD 5500 class GPU at minimum. Older demo store copy sometimes listed 200 MB of disk; the current full-game page lists 350 MB minimum and 500 MB recommended. Either way, storage is not the bottleneck.
Sagestone published a Steam Deck support video and ships full controller support plus the rebinding that arrived in this update. This wiki does not invent a Valve “Verified” badge. If you play on a handheld, test the demo on that handheld — text size, inventory, and four-player split-screen are the real questions, not whether a GT 420 can rasterize 2D sprites.
What the demo is for
Use it to answer practical questions:
- Does the pixel farming-plus-delving mix hold your attention for an evening?
- Can your machine hold 60 FPS in a busy farm with two local pads and a couple of online clients?
- Do you actually like hosting, or does your group need a 24/7 world?
- Are the default binds comfortable, or do you need the rebinding screen immediately?
Do not use the demo to judge the full biome list, fishing, cosmetics, or late bosses. Those are Early Access topics. The review page can talk about tone and first impressions; this page stays on scope.
After you finish the slice
Wishlist or follow the full game on Steam so the September 22 unlock is not a surprise. Join Discord if you want to file bugs the way Skoddle actually reads them. Follow X, YouTube, and Bluesky for trailers. Studio context lives on players; every official URL is mirrored on links.
When Early Access begins, expect the demo to remain as a sampler. Steam often keeps demos listed beside paid apps. This wiki will note if Sagestone retires or replaces 3426800; until then, the phrase stays accurate: the Delverium Demo has been on Steam since February 2025, and the February 2026 update is the build you should actually run.
Return to the updates hub when you need the dated timeline that sits above this slice — playtests, roadmaps, and the September 22 clock — without mixing those events into a fake patch number.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Delverium questions.
How long is the Delverium Demo?
Sagestone describes about one to two hours of starting biomes and early dungeons. Some players naturally play two to three hours by farming or co-op wandering.
Does the demo include online co-op?
Yes, after the February 2026 update: solo, 4-player split-screen, 8-player online co-op, and mixed split-screen plus online in one session.
Is fishing in the demo?
No. The demo blurb lists fishing, extra biomes, later bosses, fuller gear, and quests as full-game additions. June 2026 fishing notes were Early Access work.
When did the demo first appear on Steam?
The Delverium Demo has been on Steam since February 2025. Re-download if you last played before the February 20, 2026 multiplayer update.
Can I keep my demo world in Early Access?
Sagestone has not published a guaranteed save-migration promise on the store FAQ. Assume a new Early Access world unless a later Steam news post says otherwise.
Where do I report demo bugs?
Steam discussions and the official Discord are the channels Skoddle monitors. This unofficial wiki does not collect crash logs.
