Journey Shrines in Delverium

Fast travel you unlock by walking past — not a license to skip a bed, and not a pin on a public map.

Delverium Journey Shrines Guide

Journey shrines are Delverium’s fast-travel answer, added around the February 20, 2026 multiplayer demo update ahead of Steam Next Fest. Sagestone Games listed them in the same Steam post as eight-player online co-op, simultaneous split-screen plus online, control rebinding, an art pass, and an extra early-game boss. Press coverage called them hidden Journey Shrines. This unofficial wiki will treat that phrase as flavor, not as a treasure-hunt DLC. They are waypoints you activate when you physically pass them. They are not a second spawn, and they are not a reason to skip the first house.

Steam Early Access is scheduled for September 22, 2026 (the storefront may show September 21). The free demo has been on Steam since February 2025. Shrine art, prompts, and how many you find per seed can move. We will describe the job the studio named — fast travel — and the job players keep misunderstanding.

Activate them when you pass

The loop is short on purpose:

  1. Walk the overworld or a cave mouth as you already would for wood, ore, or a new biome.
  2. See a Journey shrine.
  3. Activate it. Do not screenshot it “for later” and keep sprinting.
  4. Use it later to return to that bookmark instead of walking the entire dark path again.

That is the whole official feature. There is no published interaction puzzle, no key item, and no public list of coordinates. Delverium worlds are procedurally generated. Sagestone has not issued a dedicated shrine map, and this wiki will not draw one. Your friend’s seed is not your seed. A YouTube overlay with pins is a different world. If you want shrines, walk.

Put the first shrine on the way home, not on the way to the horizon. The getting started rule still wins the first hour: closed walls, a door, a bed, a light. A shrine you activated before you had a spawn is a fancy commute back to a corpse pile. The rest of the Guides Hub assumes you understood that sentence.

They do not replace a bed

Your bed in a valid room is a spawn. Journey shrines are fast travel. Mixing those two jobs is how people rage at “the shrine dumped me in the woods with no kit.” Set the bed first. Sleep or bind spawn the way your build actually does it. Then treat shrines as bookmarks between the homestead and wherever you already survived once.

A practical split:

  • Bed — where you want to wake up after a wipe. House it. Light it. Close the door so bats do not commute through the bedroom.
  • Shrine near the farm — so farming and cooking still happen after a cave. Water the plot. Check the trough. Cook a stack.
  • Shrine near water — so fishing is a stop, not a pilgrimage, once Early Access puts a pole in your menu.
  • Shrine near a cave mouth — so dungeons and the first boss are a commute with torches, not a cross-map hike in the dark.

Crafting stations stay at home. Nested recipes want you near a workbench or furnace; shrines will not smelt copper. Build the campus from the crafting guide, then use a shrine to return to it. Do not try to nest a pickaxe on a shrine tile because the last wipe made you impatient.

Procedural worlds, no public map

Starting biomes in the demo are grass, trees, water, and enough darkness at the edges to make you curious. Extra biomes are an Early Access and 1.0 topic. Shrines will show up in those biomes the same way they show up in the first one: because you walked there. We will not name a “shrine biome.” We will not claim every seed has a shrine beside spawn. If you have not seen one yet, you have not walked far enough, or you walked past it while fighting zombies. Turn around in daylight.

Mark mentally. A chest next to a shrine is a nice idea until a goblin raid eats the chest. The shrine is the marker. The house is the warehouse.

Co-op: everyone should touch the stone

Up to eight Steam friends online, four on split-screen, mixable. The world lives on the host PC while that player has the game open. There is no official dedicated server. If the host never walked north, the north shrine does not exist for the lobby yet. Assign a scout, not eight people in a clump. Call the shrine in voice so the couch half of co-op activates it too — a split-screen player who never faced the prompt still has to walk home.

When the host logs off, the world sleeps, shrines included. Community hosting is third-party, not a Sagestone product. Do not plan a “shrine network that stays up at school.” Plan a bed, a torch, and a host who announces when they are done.

NPC rooms still need walls, a door, a bed, and a light. Shrines do not recruit a merchant. Housing rules live on the players hub. A shrine next to an invalid room is scenery.

Fast travel is not a skip button

Journey shrines will not skip the first boss gear check. They will not skip watering. They will not skip placed torches in a cave. They will not skip cooking a stack before you go. They exist so the farm and the delve can share one evening without a twenty-minute walk every death. That is a quality-of-life feature, not a story skip.

If you are ranking crops while you learn shrines, the farming tier list is the crop argument; this page is the travel argument. If you are still deciding whether the February 2026 demo slice plus the September 22 Early Access window is worth a purchase, use Early Access notes, Early Access features, and the wishlist tools page. Shrines are already in the demo update. Fishing, extra biomes, and later bosses are the paid-build conversation.

A last distinction worth repeating until it sticks: the shrine is a bookmark you earn by walking. The bed is a promise you earn by building. Activate every shrine you pass. Sleep in a room you can defend. If you only remember one of those two verbs, remember the bed. Fast travel is how you get back to work. Spawn is how you still have a character when the work goes badly.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Delverium questions.

When were Journey shrines added to Delverium?

Around the February 20, 2026 multiplayer demo update, listed with eight-player online co-op, rebinding, and an extra early boss. They are fast travel you activate by passing them.

Do Journey shrines replace my bed?

No. A bed in a valid room is still your spawn. Shrines bookmark places you already reached. Build the house from getting started before you treat a shrine as home.

Where is the official shrine map?

There is none. Worlds are procedurally generated. This unofficial wiki will not publish fake pins. Walk, activate, and use biomes as exploration context, not as a pin list.

Should co-op partners all activate the same shrine?

Yes if they want to use it. The world lives on the host PC. Call the shrine so split-screen and online players actually touch it. Caps and host rules are on co-op.

Can I shrine-skip a dungeon or the first boss?

No. Fast travel does not replace torches, food, or a real weapon. Prep with dungeons and the first boss pages, then use a shrine to come home.

Are shrines only in the demo?

They shipped in the February 2026 demo update and belong in the same travel toolkit for Early Access. Confirm the wider feature list on Early Access notes.
